The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died

I'm overwhelmingly bummed right now.  Queens Of The Stone Age are coming to my town and by the time I found someone I knew who was going (people either don't know who they are or don't like them enough to go) the fucking tickets were sold out.

No sex on a stick for me:

My fun machine literally took shit and died.

Happy Birthday, Michele!!!!

It seems strange to not be posting a birthday wish to you on JW but I actually like this even more!

I know you're not crazy about your birthday but you're one of my best friends and I'm crazy about you, so that means your birthday means a lot to me!

We fed you spagetti last week and tomorrow you get coffee but for right now, I'm honouring you in words -- the first thing we bonded over when we started becoming friends.  Can you believe we're in our 30s now!?  Geeeeeez ....

Our friendship has been a miracle.  We've been through a lot together and we'll ache through more I'm sure as we venture into spinsterhood but the good times truly outweight all of the things that made us cry!  It's a testament to the kind of friends we are, that we can overcome anything.  I am so grateful for all time we've had and the time we have left to fill up with memories.  You're one of the only people I can talk to on the phone and just sit in silence while we tinker away with something else.  That's how you know you're comfortable with your friends, your chosen family is when the silence is peaceful and full of ease.

Have a wonderful birthday, best friend.  I love you to the moon and back.

*throws confetti*

And remember, the force will be with you, always!

Love,
Nic

Nothing new to report here, I've been down most of the week with a migraine and am finally feeling better enough to go out for a few hours and mingle with people.

I also re-applied for Tourism yesterday which makes me happy.  I can't WAIT to get back to work.

Groundhog Day tomorrow, that little fucker better have good news.  I'm sick of winter.

And did someone say something about football?  *snicker*

Not exactly 15 minutes of fame .....

but I will soon get to stand in front of an original Andy Warhol!!!

http://www.artgalleryofnovascotia.ca/en/home/exhibitions/marilyn/default.aspx

I was supposed to go on Friday, take myself out on an artist date but that isn't going to happen what with me being sick and stuff so it'll have to be next week after the holidays are over.  Most people probably won't share my happiness but I am busting at the seams over this and have been since they announced it.  His work is appearing in a exhibit on Marilyn Monroe which is extra cool!

I cannot wait!  Happy Christmas to me.

The Year In Review - 2007 (horked from Amy)

1) Where did you begin 2007?
I was at the Pogue celebrating NYE with friends and family but at the exact moment the clock struck 12, I was trying to get my very drunk best friend out of the bathroom stall back to the hotel.  It was a very funny 'movie' moment.

2) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Single (loser).

3) Were you in school anytime this year?
I currently attend the school of life, yo!

4) How did you earn your money?
Working with Tourism and part-time retail.

5) Did you have to go to the hospital?
Yes but not for myself.  Our friend fell on stage while 'attempting to stage dive' and we had to take him to the emergency room.  That was the highlight of 2007.  LOL

6) Did you have any encounters with the police?
No, unless you count the fact that my friend moved away when he 'became' a police officer.

7) Where did you go on holiday?
No holidays this year for me.  I house-sat for a friend though and that felt like a vacation.

8) What did you purchase that was over $1000?
Are you kidding me!?

9) Did you know anybody who got married?
Yes, my best friend's sister.

10) Did you know anybody who passed away?
I miss you, Lisa.

12) Did you move anywhere?
Sadly, no.

14) What concerts/shows did you go to?
Colin James at the Casino, April Wine and lots and lots of great local live shows.

15) Are you registered to vote?
Yep, there should be a municipal election soon.

16) Who did you want to win Big Brother?
Frig Big Brother.

17) Where do you live now?
In Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.

18) Describe your birthday.
It was a mellow day, had lunch with Kristin, went to the mall with Erica, took myself out for a walk, cried and had wine while watching Super Bad.

19) What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2007 so far?
I never thought I'd be putting a book proposal together.  Here's hoping 2008 is a good year for me.

20) What has been your favorite moments?
Girls night at Lynn's for Halloween, Persuaders/TMB at Weir Field, my summer adventure with Hannah, house-sitting, seeing Keeks, all the crazy club nights, 'the fall', and just being with my nearest and dearest.

21) What's something you learnt about yourself?
I'm more cynical, take less shit from others and I'm old.

22.) Any new additions to your family?
Ella (great niece) and four frickin' budgie birds that I hate with the fire of a thousand suns.

23.) What was your best month?
Any month I was working.

It's the year of Red Carpet Massacre, Radiohead's In Rainbows and Free Music Fridays, yo!

Kristin and Kelly.

26) Made new friends?
Yep, and I'd never trade them.

27) Best new friend?
I love them all to pieces.

Testing ... testing ... one .. two .. three ....

It's my first LJ entry.  I'm a little lost.  I used to blog here before but I couldn't get into it.  Now, I feel like I'm missing out on all of the important things happening to my friends.  So, here I am.  With you.  Let's see if I can get it this time around.
